“The minute you get away from fundamentals – whether its proper technique, work ethic or mental preparation – the bottom can fall out of your game, your schoolwork, your job, whatever you’re doing.”

The importance of punctuation
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air.
"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.
"I'm a panda," he says, at the door. "Look it up."
The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.
"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."
(both examples taken from Eats, Shoots, & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation by Lynne Truss)
Let's eat Grandma!
Let's eat, Grandma!
Commas....USE THEM!
After reading the

When students ask me, "How much is this worth?" or "Is this graded?", I have finally found the perfect answer - Allan Wolf, former Slam Poet, said it best:
"The points are not the point. The point is poetry."
I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.

Since I just got back from Mexico, I thought it was important to tell you how cool the Mayan history is! I got the opportunity to visit 2 Mayan ruins - Coba and Chichen Itza. Coba is one of the Mayan ruins you can walk on - so I hiked my way up 120 steps! What an amazing view! Coba is located in the middle of the jungle, so I was looking down at treetops with a few lakes in the distance and one Mayan ruin poking out above the trees. It was amazing!
Chichen Itza was huge! This ancient city is a historical wonder filled with Mayan mysteries! These people were sharp with astronomy and mathematics. And hey - are you worried that 2012 is the end of the world because it's the end of the Mayan calendar? Don't worry! It's actually only the end of their calendar cycle. This is the end of a 5,125 (don't quote me on the number of years, look it up for sure) year cycle. So if you thought people celebrated the New Year on Dec. 31, 1999, that's nothing compared to the celebration the Mayan culture will have in December this year! Another side note - Chichen Itza is one of the new 7 Wonders of the World, so I feel pretty lucky to have visited such a fabulous place!
Do you like math? Astronomy? Architecture? Check out the Mayan culture and their history. Much like the Romans and Egyptians that you often hear about, these people were meticulous about their calendar, structures, and religious ceremonies.
Ok - enough history. The Mayan culture was an eye-opening experience for me, but I can't pass up the opportunity to tell you that the beach was great, too! I watched the sun rise up over the ocean, I rappelled into a cenote, and I zip lined over a swamp with a crocodile swimming right below me. Oh, and I can't forget to tell you that I watched Ms. Satter become Mrs. Flatau at her resort in Cancun! I had a blast - but it's back to reality. For a girl who hasn't left the country in nearly 10 years, it was an unforgettable experience!

You're not perfect, Sport, and let me save you the suspense: this girl you've met, she's not perfect either. But the question is whether or not you're perfect for each other.

Steve Jobs said: “The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”
I’ve got it down to four words: “Do what you love.” Seek out an occupation that gives you a sense of meaning, direction and satisfaction in life. Having a sense of purpose and striving towards goals gives life meaning, direction and satisfaction. It not only contributes to health and longevity, but also makes you feel better in difficult times. Do you jump out of bed on Monday mornings and look forward to the work week? If the answer is ‘no’ keep looking, you’ll know when you find it. ~ Steve Jobs

An interesting quote from a fortune cookie I read once: " Be patient. The Great Wall didn't got build in one day." (and yes, I typed that exactly as it's printed on the fortune cookie paper!)
